Night at the museum

Finally I could go to the exhibition
"American Pop Art - From the John and Kimiko Powers Collection".

I wish the space were a bit bigger
so that we could see big art works from a distance.
but, hey, the collection is stunning !
I appreciate we can see such a great show here in Tokyo.

They are open till 20:00 on Fridays.

and then, we went to the museum shop.
They have a great selection.
I highly recommend you visit here, and
I myself must come back to find some gifts!

For today, I got this hanky embroidered with NY icons.
Designed by Makoto Oozu

Pretty in pink

just so sweet.

Her graying hair has been dyed pink slightly.
Also she wears pink-rimmed glasses and
puts on pink lipstick.
     .... and wears pink sneakers.

Ginza again

Several major streets in Tokyo are closed to vehicles during weekends.
Chu-ou street in Ginza is one of them.

I went to Qualia Junction to take a lecture
"The absolute God and part-time gods"today.

After taking 3 hours lecture,
I did need caffein, and I knew where I should go!

"Cafe Paulista"
Since 1904

Because it was already dinner time, the cafe wasn't crowded.
My friend brought me here once. After that, I'm also the one of fans of their coffee.
I heard John Lennon and Yoko Ono loved their traditional coffee "Paulista Old"
and they came here for the coffee 3 days straight.

It was already dark when I left the cafe.
Ginza has remained of Showa period.
I love it.

embroidery sampler

Japanese embroidery sampler by my grandmother

French embroidery kit and illustration (1960's?)

My mother showed me the sampler that my grandmother made.
I actually didn't know she liked needlework.

my favorite station

the view from Ochanomizu Bridge

watch out ..

the sign " WATCH OUT !"
at Todai-ji (Buddhist Temple) in Nara, 2012

Red Glove

This was actually the first time to go to MOMAT
and the Craft Gallery.

I really wanted to see the " Red Glove" on the banner.
 by Yoichi Onagi (1976)
It's weaving and HUGE.
I believe it's worth to go even if the outside is more than 90F !

go both MOMAT and Craft Gallery - 650yen,
only the Gallery - 200yen. (As of today)

this is a place where you should go to eat and drink!
                                                              They serve African/Arabic food.

                                                                     highly recommended.

eatable art !

I joined a " rolled sushi "workshop and
we made " apprentice geisha" today.
23 of participants made this roll in the class,
but look at this pic - all of faces are so different !
                                                                    I had a great time !

Tama-chan (Takayo Kiyota) is the artist, who had this workshop.
She uses rolled sushi as an art form.

                                                           ( ↑it's in Japanese.)

childhood memory

the board game " The Game of Life "
                                                                Japanese version / 1968

I did play this game with my family and friends in 70's.

Miroco Machiko

I didn't know about her at all until I watched a documentary on TV.

Miroco Machiko

She seems just a pretty girl whom I could see everywhere in Tokyo.
But when I saw her painting the first time, I was blown away.
The energy.

       http://www.mirocomachiko.com/

I'd love to see the original.

Ginza modern

 New Melsa Department Entrance

Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan Bldg

Godzilla !

the latest stamps

the latest 80yen stamp sheet design - Chihiro Iwasaki
